Wireless Network Services

Wireless solutions enable employees, regardless of their location, to maintain access to information, applications and resources at all times.

Wireless is defined as ‘having no wires’. In networking terminology, wireless is used to describe any computer network where there is no physical wired connection between sender and receiver, but rather the network is connected by radio waves and/or microwaves to maintain communications. Wireless networking utilizes specific equipment such as NICs, APs and routers in place of copper wires or optical fiber for connectivity.

More specialized and exotic examples of wireless communications and control include:

Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) is a digital mobile telephone system used in Europe and other parts of the world; the de facto wireless telephone standard in Europe

General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a packet-based wireless communication service that provides continuous connection to the Internet for mobile phone and computer users

Enhanced Data GSM Environment (EDGE) is a faster version of the Global System for Mobile (GSM) wireless service

Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) is a broadband, packet-based system offering a consistent set of services to mobile computer and phone users no matter where they are located in the world.

Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is a set of communication protocols to standardize the way that wireless devices, such as cellular telephones and radio transceivers, can be used for Internet access.

i-Mode is the world’s first “smart phone” for Web browsing, first introduced in Japan; provides color and video over telephone sets Wireless Application Pro.

With its technical partners, Liona Enterprises designs and builds state-of-the-art, highly secure wireless solutions that improve the end-user experience. Our Wireless solutions meet the most stringent guidelines and requirements of the U.S. federal government while providing highly secure, scalable, flexible, and manageable systems.

Unified Communications

Unified Communications encompasses versatile conferencing software that takes the various methods used in conference calls such as text, audio, video, and virtual white boards and makes them available through a single interface.

Communication, especially for brainstorming and presentations with audience interaction, can be greatly smoothed by seamless UC software that enables many different interaction methods. One benefit is that users can devote their attention to the topic at hand rather than the operation of various pieces of software to enable communication through different mediums.

However, UC poses a number of challenges to networks with old infrastructure, having changed the nature of enterprise network workloads. In a network with compute and storage separate, these dynamic workloads can result in latency and congestion. As UC and other dynamic workloads have increased, they have driven the adoption of hyper-converged networks to deal with the attendant challenges.

Liona Enterprises UC solutions eliminate the complexity of communications for both end users and system administrators. Our solutions integrate hardware, software and services to make our clients more efficient and responsive. Liona Enterprises ensures that all components work with minimal configuration and maximum flexibility.
Our secure Unified Communications solutions for federal, state and local agencies simplify collaboration with coworkers, citizens and third-party organizations across any workspace.

High-definition voice, video collaboration, streaming, and recording solutions promote government responsiveness and improve overall efficiency by extending the reach and quality of collaboration and services delivered across multiple media and geographic regions.

Video Collaboration

Ninety percent of communication is non-verbal in nature, accounting for practically everything that isn’t words used in a conversation. Eye contact, gestures, inflection, dress and proximity all play important, yet subtle roles, in determining our understanding of a person’s meaning.

The implications of these indicators on business communication are clear, since so much of marketing, sales and management comes down to effective collaboration. If your company is relying on audio conferencing alone, you are leaving 55 percent of your message to chance. If you rely on e-mail exclusively, you are leaving a staggering 93 percent on the table. In business, can you really afford to take such chances?

Technology like HD video collaboration ensures that no inflection is missed and no gesture is left unnoticed. Video puts you in control of your message, virtually eliminates miscommunication and allows you to build stronger connected relationships than any other form of technology. Video conferencing is the communications technology of the future, and available today.

Liona Enterprises Video Collaboration solutions include audio conferencing and audio reinforcement, video interfacing, HD video-teleconference, video- switching and routing, video walls, network video solutions, and VTC upgrades giving users the ability to share multiple pieces of content during a conferencing session.

Federal government entities look to Liona Enterprises for customized Video Collaboration solutions that are as dependable as they are cost-effective. We provide systems that address both intra-agency requirements and the need to communicate to the public at large.

From the integration of Emergency Operations Centers to real-time information displays, we deliver powerful solutions that are easy to use, maintain, upgrade, and expand.

Critical Infrastructure

Critical infrastructure is the backbone of our nation’s economy, security and health. We know it as the power we use in our homes, the water we drink, the transportation that moves us, and the communication systems we rely on to stay in touch with friends and family.

Critical infrastructure are the assets, systems and networks, whether physical or virtual, so vital to the United States that their incapacitation or destruction would have a debilitating effect on security, national economic security, national public health or safety, or any combination thereof.

Critical infrastructure must be secure and able to withstand and rapidly recover from all hazards. Proactive and coordinated efforts are necessary to strengthen and maintain secure, functioning, and resilient critical infrastructure – including assets, networks, and systems – that are vital to public confidence and the Nation’s safety, prosperity, and well-being. This endeavor is a shared responsibility among Federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial entities, and public and private owners and operators of critical infrastructure.

Liona Enterprises Critical Infrastructure solutions include copper and fiber cabling, DAS infrastructure, wireless infrastructure, data center physical design, and CCTV systems cabling.
Our solutions help connect you easily and seamlessly, over data, voice and video networks. Whether you are building, relocating or upgrading, structured cabling is the foundation for the growth and expansion of your company.

Liona Enterprises can provide the latest system to address the changing needs of your computer network. Our Critical Infrastructure expertise creates highly efficient and intelligent solutions for existing or new IT data centers.

We make it a priority to involve you in the design-solution process to ensure a scalable information network that will enhance your operations, increase productivity and significantly reduce costs.

Physical Security

Physical Security is the protection of personnel, hardware,  programs, networks, and data from physical circumstances and events that could cause serious loss or damage to an enterprise, agency or institution. This includes protection from fire, natural disasters, burglary, theft, vandalism, and terrorism.

Physical Security is often overlooked in favor of more technical and dramatic issues such as hacking, viruses, Trojans, and spyware. However, breaches of physical security can be carried out with little or no technical knowledge on the part of an attacker. Moreover, accidents and natural disasters are a part of everyday life, and in the long term, are inevitable.

There are three main components to Physical Security:

First, obstacles placed in the way of potential attackers and sites can be hardened against accidents and environmental disasters. Such measures can include multiple locks, fencing, walls, fireproof safes, and water sprinklers.

Second, surveillance and notification systems can be put in place such as lighting, heat sensors, smoke detectors, intrusion detectors, alarms, and cameras.

Third, methods can be implemented to apprehend attackers; preferably before any damage will be done, and to recover quickly from accidents, fires or natural disasters.

Our Physical Security services include:

Vulnerability Assessment, providing a programmatic approach for evaluating technical, administrative and management security controls across the environment.

HIPAA Security Assessment, auditing your security systems and staff to analyze compliance measures for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Through our gap analysis, we design a remediation process and identify mitigating controls.
