Lessons from the Field: Building Everyday Cyber Resilience 

At Liona Enterprises, cybersecurity isn’t just a compliance box—it’s a daily discipline. This year, Liona achieved self-certification for CMMC Level 1 and Level 2, advancing our readiness to support the Department of Defense and reinforcing our role as a trusted, secure, and mission-ready technology partner. 

That milestone didn’t come from theory—it came from experience. Like many organizations supporting federal operations, Liona faces near-daily intrusion attempts from actors probing for vulnerabilities. Each attempted breach is a reminder that cybersecurity is not a static achievement, but a living practice that requires vigilance, teamwork, and continuous improvement. 

Our Managed Services Provider, Sawdey Inc., has been instrumental in this effort. Their team serves as an extension of our own—providing critical patch management, vulnerability assessments, user training, and rapid incident response. Together, we’ve built a layered defense posture that combines technical rigor with human readiness. 

Still, cybersecurity doesn’t begin or end in the data center—it starts with people. Every employee, contractor, and partner plays a role in keeping our systems safe. From our lessons in the field, here are a few key habits that make the biggest difference: 

• Use strong, unique passwords and enable multi-factor authentication wherever possible. 

• Stay alert for phishing attempts—don’t click unfamiliar links or open unexpected attachments. 

• Keep systems and software updated to close known vulnerabilities before attackers can exploit them. 
  Back up your data regularly to ensure resilience in case of compromise. 

• Avoid public Wi-Fi for sensitive work unless you’re connected through a secure VPN. 

Cybersecurity is an ongoing mission, not a moment. In the year ahead, Liona will strengthen the validation of our defenses even further through a Third Party Audit of our CMMC Level 2 environment, validating that our controls and culture meet the highest standards of protection.
